Sikkim is the North-eastern state of India, and it borders China in its north and east. Sikkim is located close to Siliguri Corridor near Bangladesh and is the least populous and second smallest among the Indian States. Sikkim is mainly notable for its biodiversity, including alpine and subtropical climates as well as a host of Kanchenjunga the highest peak in India and third highest peak on Earth. In the 17th century the kingdom of Sikkim was founded on the Silk Road by the National dynasty. It was ruled by a Buddhist priest-king known as the Chogyal. Very little is known about Sikkim ancient’s history but beyond the facts that its original inhabitants were the Lepcha. According to legend, Buddhist guru Padmasambhava visited Sikkim in the 8th Century AD, introduced Buddhism and the era of the Sikkimese monarchy.

Best time to visit in Sikkim is as good season to visit Gangtok as well as in Darjeeling. This is also the main reason why tourists combine to visit Gangtok with Darjeeling, although there are some differences in temperature and rainfall between the two places. The average annual temperature for most of the Sikkim is around 18C. One of the best times to visit Gangtok is during Autumn which is in the month October to November, where the weather stays extremely pleasant although it starts getting a bit cold in November and you will need warm clothes, but a good time and a big point is the clear sky and the beautiful views which is the excellent time for sightseeing and fun activities.

Gangtok and its Tsomgo Lake
It is the capital of Sikkim, Rumtek and Sarmsa which is situated at an elevation 1437 meters/4716 feet in the Shivalik Hills of the eastern Himalayan range. In the early 20th century, Gangtok became a major stop over on the trade route (Nathu La and Jelep La pass) between Lhasa in Tibet and in Kolkata during the British Indian rule. Tsomgo lake which is located just 38 km away from the capital city of Sikkim is among the most popular tourist places in Sikkim.
